The Apostle Paul was always trying to learn more about God and about His eternal grace protocol plan of the ages. The epistle of Ephesians is the highest spiritual mountain of Bible doctrinal teaching in the Canon of Scripture. It teaches us that the Father gave to each one of us at the very instant in which we believed in Christ, a complete salvation grace blessings package (cf. Eph. 1:3). It teaches us that the Father, the Son, and the Spirit worked on behalf of our salvation (cf. Eph. 1:4-14). It teaches us that we were positionally seated with Christ on His throne at the right hand of the Father, the moment we were saved (cf. Eph. 2:6). It teaches us that the Father seated us there to begin to prepare us for the ages to come (i.e. dispensation of Omega – eternity future) when He will show us the exceeding riches of His grace forever, through Christ (cf. Eph. 2:7). Then in Philippians, Paul made it clear that he had not yet mastered the doctrine of Christ in its entirety (cf. 3:10-14).

“For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” Philippians 1:21

Paul had reached the point in his life where Christ was the focal point of his life and yet he made it clear he needed to learn more Christology (doctrine of Christ). He was not satisfied with his knowledge about Christ and wanted to keep learning.

“All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.” Matthew 11:27

The Father must open the door of understanding for a believer to enter into the advanced doctrinal teachings concerning Christ. He opens this door through the teaching ministry of the Spirit to believers who desire an intimate understanding of Christ for intimate fellowship with Christ (cf. I Cor. 2:9-16). The more we learn about Christ the more we prepare ourselves to understand the Father.

“Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of His calling, and what the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of His power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of His mighty power, Which He wrought in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead, and set Him at His own right Hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be the Head over all things to the church, Which is His body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all,” Ephesians 1:15-23
