DAILY PRAYER

"Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto thee daily."

Psalm 86:3 KJAV

The Father has taught us the need to not only pray daily but to pray often throughout the day. Every day is a grace gift from the Father (see Psalm 118:24). We are only guaranteed today and therefore we must always acknowledge that we will only do something tomorrow if it is the will of the Father (see James 4:13-15). Petition prayer is the manifestation of the believer's dependence upon the Father. The more things we pray about the more we depend upon Him.

"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God."

Philippians 4:6 KJAV

We are to pray daily about everything and when we come to understand the Father's love for us we will be willing to take all of our problems to Him (see I Peter 5:7). The Father wants us to talk things over with Him.

"And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed."

Mark 1:35 KJAV

The Lord Jesus Christ is our example in talking everything over with the Father. He began His day in prayer. If our Savior began His day in prayer then we should also begin our day in prayer.

"And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God."

Luke 6:12 KJAV

He sometimes prayed all night. We may not be able to pray all night but we can close our day with prayer, just like the way we began it.

"Pray without ceasing."

I Thessalonians 5:17 KJAV

Scripture teaches that we should maintain a prayerful attitude all day long. This means we are ready to pray at anytime about anything.

"For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father."

Ephesians 2:18 KJAV

The Spirit's indwelling of every believer provides each one of us with immediate access to the Father. The Father keeps an open door before Him which allows each one of us as one of His children to approach Him in prayer at any and all times (see Ephesians 3:12).

Access to the Father through prayer is a divine operating asset that believers need to be using on a consistent moment by moment basis. The Father has given to every believer the right to pray and therefore the Father has given to every believer the duty to pray.

The coin of the realm that we spend to pass our test is Bible doctrine we have resident in our souls. The Father has given us doctrinal divine problem solving devices. His problem solving devices are doctrinal concepts designed to carry us through our trials and sufferings.

He has also given us prayer as a communication line to talk to Him at any time about any problem. We are to live by faith (see Romans 1:17) and our faith must be centered in the Word of God (see Romans 10:17).

The Spirit empowers us to pass each test we face as we utilize faith in the Father's promises (see Ephesians 3:16). The Spirit makes sure we understand the doctrine we need to use to pass the test (see I Corinthians 2:6-16 with John 16:13-15). The Spirit also helps us pray about our problems (see Romans 8:26-27 with Ephesians 6:18-19).

Prayer involves the entire Triune Godhead. The Father hears our prayers (see Matthew 6:9 with 7:11). The Spirit leads us to the Father and helps us pray (see Romans 8:15, Galatians 4:6).

"Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need."

Hebrews 4:14-16 KJAV

The Son, who is the person of the Lord Jesus Christ, is our High Priest. Christ stands before the Father presenting our imperfect prayers to Him, perfumed with the incense of His own perfect propitiation (I John 2:1-2). A holy angel serves the Lord Jesus Christ in presenting our prayers to the Father (see Revelation 8:3-4).
